Questions

Where are the winter storm warnings right now?

At our last check (Oct 31, 2026, 5:45 AM ET), 18 winter alerts were in force across 9 states, the most in California (5).

What's the difference between a winter storm watch and a warning?

A watch means a significant winter storm is possible in the next few days: time to get ready. A warning means it's expected or happening: stay off the roads if you can and be ready for the power to go out.

How do I get ready for a winter storm?

Have water, food that needs no cooking, medicines, flashlights, batteries and warm layers for several days. Keep phones and power banks charged, and never use a generator, grill or camp stove indoors: carbon monoxide kills.
