Our review
The PUR PLUS faucet filtration system (SKU PFM400H in chrome) clips onto a standard kitchen faucet and gives filtered water on tap, with a filter PUR says is certified to reduce 70 contaminants including lead and lasts up to 100 gallons or 3 months. This researched review reads PUR's product and contaminant pages, explains the certification, and says which faucets it will not fit.
What PUR lists
PUR's page for the PLUS faucet system in chrome, SKU PFM400H, says it is certified to reduce 70 contaminants including lead, that the filter lasts up to 100 gallons or 3 months, and that a filter change light visibly indicates filter status so you know when to change it. One filter is included, which PUR calls a Mineral Core filter. PUR says its water filtration systems are NSF and WQA certified to reduce 70 contaminants, including lead and mercury, and that genuine PUR faucet filters are certified by IAPMO R&T.
PUR's contaminants page notes the certifications are for faucet filter models RF-3375 and RF-9999, the two replacement filters the system takes, and that like other leading brands, PUR does not filter microbes.
Lead, and what 70 contaminants means
CDC's advice is a point-of-use filter certified to NSF/ANSI 53 for lead by an independent testing organization, and the WQA's listings show PUR's PFM faucet filters under NSF/ANSI 53 with a lead reduction claim, which is why the PUR is on our water filters for lead and PFAS comparison. PUR's page names NSF and WQA but not the standard numbers in text, so look up the exact listing for the filter you buy.
PUR's 70-contaminant count covers chemicals and metals, and its page compares it with Brita's pitcher filter. It does not list PFAS claims on the product page we read, so check the current certification before buying it for PFOA or PFOS. No faucet filter of this type is certified for bacteria or viruses, as PUR's microbes note says.
Fitting it
PUR's installation steps are to identify your faucet threading, external or internal, and attach the device, using one of the adapters in the box if needed; PUR's support pages cover adapters for other threads. Faucet-mount filters of this kind do not fit pull-out or hand-held sprayer faucets, which rules out many modern kitchens; look at the faucet and PUR's adapter guide before you order. The filter housing sits beside the spout, so a small sink loses a little room.
The filter light resets by holding the button for 3 seconds until the three lights flash. Keep a replacement filter on hand, since 100 gallons goes quickly in a household that cooks with filtered water.
Running cost and limits
Four filters a year is the running cost for a typical household, against two for a Brita Elite pitcher, and that is the PUR's main drawback. The gain is that every glass and every pot comes filtered without waiting for a reservoir to drip. The page gives no warranty term in text we could verify; PUR has a warranty registration page.
In a boil-water advisory the PUR does not help: PUR does not filter microbes. Our make water safe guide covers boiling and disinfection.
How it compares, and who should skip it
The Brita 10-cup pitcher with Elite filter is the cheaper, simpler lead filter that changes twice a year but filters in batches; the PUR is for the kitchen that wants filtered water on demand and has a faucet it fits. For PFAS, both need checking against the current NSF/ANSI 53 listings, and an under-sink filter on our comparison may be the better buy.
Skip the PUR if your faucet has a pull-out or hand-held sprayer, if you would rather not change a filter every 3 months, or if PFAS is your reason for buying.

Who shouldn't buy this
Don't buy it if you would rather not change filters every few months.
This is a Researched review: we haven't used this product. We check every specification against at least two independent sources, re-check the US price on a schedule where we can track it automatically, and say plainly who it isn't for. Commissions never change a rating.

Is the PUR PLUS faucet filter certified to reduce lead?
Yes. PUR says it is certified to reduce 70 contaminants including lead, by NSF and WQA, and the WQA's listings show PUR's faucet filters under NSF/ANSI 53 with a lead claim. Check the exact listing for the filter you buy.
How long does a filter last?
PUR says up to 100 gallons or 3 months, whichever comes first, and the filter change light tells you when. That is about four filters a year for most households.
Will it fit my faucet?
It fits standard faucets with external or internal threads, with adapters in the box. It does not fit pull-out or hand-held sprayer faucets.
Does it remove bacteria?
No. PUR says that, like other leading brands, it does not filter microbes. During a boil-water advisory, boil or disinfect the water.
