Our review
EcoFlow lists the RIVER 2 Pro at 768 Wh, 800 W of AC output (1,600 W with X-Boost) and about 18.2 lb. This researched review covers the 70-minute recharge, the 30 ms switchover, what EcoFlow's manual says about refrigerators and CPAP machines, and who needs more output.
What it is and who it suits
The RIVER 2 Pro is the compact end of EcoFlow's lineup: a 768 Wh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery rated for 80 percent or more capacity after 3,000 cycles, with AC, USB-C, USB-A, car-socket and DC5521 outputs. EcoFlow says it was the first power station to earn a TÜV Rheinland safety certification, and lists a 5-year warranty.
EcoFlow pitches it for overnight outages, which fits a small household or a second battery for one room. This review is researched, not tested, and uses EcoFlow's US product page plus EcoFlow's online RIVER 2 Pro user manual.
What 800 W means in practice
EcoFlow rates AC output at 800 W total with a 1,600 W surge. X-Boost raises the limit to 1,600 W for some devices, but the manual says it is for heating and motor-driven devices, is not suitable for appliances with voltage protection, and that you should test your own devices. Add up the watts of what you plan to run together and keep the total under 800 W unless X-Boost applies. The LCD shows remaining charge and discharge time, which is a useful check when the load is steady.
Switchover, refrigerators and medical gear
EcoFlow lists a switchover to battery in under 30 ms. The manual calls this a basic UPS function without 0 ms switching, says not to connect devices that need it, such as data servers and workstations, and recommends running only one device at a time, which in 100 to 120V areas such as the US means under 1,000 W.
With a refrigerator, the manual says the station may shut off automatically because of the fridge's power fluctuation, and recommends setting AC output to Never Turn Off in the app, particularly if the fridge holds medicines or vaccines.
On medical equipment the manual is specific. It does not recommend the station for emergency equipment tied to personal safety, such as hospital-grade CPAP machines, but says it can power a home CPAP that does not need continuous monitoring by professionals. It adds that you should follow your doctor's instructions, check the device maker's restrictions and monitor the power status, and that the electromagnetic fields it generates are likely to affect pacemakers. Our guide to medical devices in a power outage covers what to ask.
Recharging and solar
EcoFlow quotes a full recharge from the wall in 70 minutes. The manual gives 940 W maximum AC input and says to plug directly into a wall outlet rather than an extension. Solar input is capped at 220 W (11 to 50 V), and EcoFlow lists 4.5 to 9 hours for a full charge from panels. Car input and USB-C input are each 100 W, about 9 hours for a full charge in the manual. Our solar panel comparison lists panels to match.
Weight, noise and temperature
EcoFlow's page lists approximately 18.2 lb, and the manual gives 10.6 by 10.2 by 8.9 in. A footnote says noise can reach 62 dB when charging and discharging at high wattage, so it is not silent under load. Discharging is rated 14 to 113°F and charging 32 to 113°F, with 68 to 86°F as the optimal range. For storage, the manual says to recharge every three months and that warranty cover lapses after more than six months without charging or discharging.
How it compares and who should skip it
At 768 Wh and 18.2 lb it is the smallest and lightest of the Jackery, EcoFlow and Anker units reviewed here: the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 lists 1,070 Wh and 23.8 lb, the Anker SOLIX C1000 1,056 Wh and 28.44 lb, and the DELTA 3 Max 2,048 Wh and 44.8 lb. Skip it if you want to run a full-size refrigerator all day or several appliances above 800 W at once. Sort the options by capacity and output on our power station comparison, and see the power outage checklist for the wider plan.

Can the RIVER 2 Pro run a CPAP machine?
EcoFlow's manual says it can power a home CPAP that does not need continuous professional monitoring, but it is not recommended for hospital-grade equipment. It asks you to follow your doctor's instructions, check the device maker's limits and monitor the power status.
Will the RIVER 2 Pro keep a refrigerator running?
It can sit within the 800 W rating, but the manual says the station may shut off with a refrigerator's power fluctuations and advises setting AC output to Never Turn Off in the app. With 768 Wh stored, runtime depends on the fridge's rated watts.
How quickly does the RIVER 2 Pro recharge?
EcoFlow quotes 0 to 100 percent in 70 minutes from a wall outlet, 4.5 to 9 hours from panels up to 220 W, and about 9 hours from a car or USB-C at 100 W.
Does the RIVER 2 Pro work as a UPS?
EcoFlow calls it an emergency power supply that switches to battery in under 30 ms. The manual says it is not a 0 ms UPS and should not be used with servers or workstations.
